So I just started teaching 4th grade in San Francisco. My new students are great but I definitely miss everyone from PS 89… You guys were amazing. I was a cactus this year for Halloween. I even made my famous kitty litter cake! In other news I am now an uncle! Baby Carter was born over the summer at only 24 weeks. He’s finally home and doing great. The picture at the bottom is me and my class after a color run fundraiser. Please send me a message — I would love to hear what you are up to!!!

At the end of June we moved everything in a big truck across the country to San Francisco, California. I’m going to be working at a new school teaching 4th grade! It was a long drive but we saw a lot of beautiful things.

Here is some of the corn we saw growing in Nebraska. There was corn growing EVERYWHERE! People from Nebraska are known as “cornhuskers”. They’re also famous for their Runza sandwiches and Dorothy Lynch salad dressing.

This is a rock formation that was next to our hotel in Wyoming.

We stopped in Salt Lake City, Utah for a few days to visit family and hiked up Mount Olympus. It was a really hard hike and my knees still hurt!

This picture shows the Bonneville Salt Flats. It’s a giant field of salt that was left behind after a prehistoric lake evaporated.

We made it to California and the Pacific Ocean! Here is a sand dollar with some barnacles’ calcareous plates still attached.
Hi everyone! I’m sorry it’s been so long since I’ve updated this blog. Everything is going well down here at my new school. I’m teaching 3rd grade again. Here are some pictures of my recent trip to the Great Salt Lake in Utah. There were lots of beautiful salt formations. Please send me a message if you get a chance. I’d love to hear from you! I miss you!

Arbor Day 2016

I took my class outside a few weeks ago to do some tree-hugging for Arbor Day. We’re lucky to have a big field with lots of tree behind our school. Have you ever tried hugging a tree? If you get a chance, please send me a note to let me know how you’re doing! I miss my students from PS 89!

According to countless studies, students show extreme psychological and physiological effects in term of improved health and well-being when they interact with plants. It was recorded that students function better cognitively and emotionally in green environments and have more creative play in green areas.
A large public health report studying the association between green spaces and mental health also noted that “access to nature can significantly contribute to our mental capability and well being.”

I spent a week learning about wetlands and the Chesapeake Bay. I’ve posted a few pictures of the crabs we caught in a trap called a “crab pot”. We steamed them with some spices for dinner and they were delicious! If you get a chance, please leave me a comment below and let me know what you’ve been up to. I miss you guys!
The cheese from the cheese contest finally arrived! It’s going to go bad by the end of summer but I will buy more for you guys. I found out they sell it at Whole Foods. The name of the creamery is Cowgirl Creamery.
I went to the coolest candy shop the other day in TriBeCa. It’s called Papabubble. They make lots of weird shapes out of candy! Look at their website and you will see they make candy teeth and candy glasses!
