Hi everyone! Happy New Year!

I went to Utah during winter break and wanted to share some photos with you guys!

I got a chance to see Spiral Jetty, a giant work of art that an artist named Robert Smithson created in the Great Salt Lake in 1970. He used a bunch of trucks to put tons of lava rock into the shape of a spiral at the edge of the very salty lake!

Here we are levitating over the salt flats.

When the water evaporates, you can see huge salt crystals.

Here is a cute cow I met on the road to Spiral Jetty!

I also got to see the “golden spike”. The “golden spike” is the ceremonial spike used to connect the first transcontinental railroad across the United States. This is the place where the railroad from the east coast finally connected to the railroad from the west coast!

Thanks for the Birthday Wishes!

Hi! Ms. Alford sent me your awesome birthday greetings 🙂 Thank you so much for remembering me. I think about you guys all the time and I hope I can come back and visit sometime very soon! Here are some pictures of my new class and my new school. I hope you like them! Please keep in touch! -Mr. Fox

My classroom has a nice view of a forest — there’s even a little fox that lives there. I haven’t seen her yet 😦 My new class is learning the same kind of stuff that you guys learned last year. They have book clubs and partnerships. Here is a picture of some writing partners meeting on the rug. We were very lucky and got to talk to an archaeologist a few weeks ago. He was looking in the dirt around the school for important things from the Civil War era that got buried under the ground. That big field with all the weeds is going to be our community garden! It’s going to take a lot of work to get it ready for the spring. Maybe you guys can take a field trip with your classes and come down for a visit! 🙂 Please say hi to everyone!

Here are some pictures from Washington, D.C.! I wish we could have gone on a field trip here because there is so much cool stuff to do and see.

I’m sitting on the side of the Lincoln Memorial here. It’s the building that you see on pennies and 5 dollar bills.
